Pic du Midi rises up to 2,877 m

You can reach Pic du Midi thanks to a spectacular cable railway going up from La Mongie. The panoramic views from its terraces are unique. Thanks to its museum you can get closer to the magic and poetry of astronomic research. You will learn everything about the Sun, the Moon, the planets and the stars.

Pic du Midi 600-m2 panoramic terraces allow you to see over 300 km of Pyrenean summits southwards and northwards, and the plains up to the foothills of the Central Massif. A one and only viewpoint

Likewise, Pic du Midi is an observatory and research centre. Since 1880, the Sun, the planets, the stars and the galaxy are carefully followed…

Researchers and technicians working in the observatory carefully follow the celestial space in order to better understand the universe.

You’ll meet the people in charge of “Le Pic” at the highest European museographic space. You’ll follow the Sun changes and the ejections of mass from the solar crown. Extraordinary images guaranteed.

Pic du Midi is open for everyone all year long. It is located 45 km from Vallée du Louron coming through Col d’Aspin (mountain pass).
