Raquettes à neige
The use of snowshoes is a real pleasure whether walking with the family or friends, when large amounts of new snow have fallen, and in the woods and forests of the valley.
This is a leisure sport to facilitate the exploration of nature when the mountains and high meadows are covered in snow. It is also excellent for the observation of the animals in a period when they are particularly vulnerable.
It is also a sporting activity making one healthier and better able to achieve ones goals.
The Louron valley offers two marked and secure routes, one at the Val Louron in the Lapadé forest and the other at Peyragudes in the pine woods of Balestas. And of course a multitude of off track possibilities to explore the wild places, ideally accompanied by a guide who can show you undiscovered places that you would not know existed, in total security.
Val Louron
La Forêt de Lapadé
Time: 1h 45mins. Altitude difference: 180m.
From the Val Louron parking, follow the route marked No. 9 the length of the buildings. After the Tronquet restaurant, go towards the forest and descend to the ski drag at Lapadé. Follow the path to the left which skirts the metal fenced area. Be careful with children along this fence near to the reception hut. The path soon rises in the forest to the “Belvédère de Lapadé ” (do not go too close to the edge). Climb to a second “Belvédère de la Foret” and follow the path to the right down towards Val Louron. Close to the metal fenced area, return to the ski station by the route taken at the outset.
